ZEBTEC #1: The Great Transition: Lessons from a Half-Decade of Deployment
As Canada approaches the 2026 milestone for zero-emission transit adoption, this session unpacks the hard-won data and operational realities of the last five years. Moving beyond theoretical modeling, we analyze empirical performance data from transit agencies that were early adopters of Battery Electric Buses (BEBs). Panelists will discuss the divergence between predicted vs. actual range, the impact of Canadian winter conditions on battery degradation, and the evolution of maintenance protocols. This is a critical “lessons learned” retrospective designed to inform the next wave of mass procurement.
