ZEB Committees

CUTRIC’s Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) Committee is a national forum for CUTRIC’s members to share up-to-date information and data related to ZEB procurements, deployments, predictive and empirical data and funding and financing options. It will ensure that Canadian transit agencies have access to the highest-quality transit-led ZEB data and ZEB procurement and deployment knowledge across Canada and the United States. This Committee reports to CUTRIC’s Board of Directors and is chaired by Erin Cooke of Winnipeg Transit. The ZEB Committee will help Canada achieve 5,000 ZEBs by 2026 by supporting knowledge and experience sharing related to ZEB procurements and deployments.

Academic Institution Initiatives

The National Academic Strategy represents CUTRIC’s response to feedback from our academic members on enhancing membership value. The Strategy is focused on convening and actively engaging industry partners, transit agencies and academic research teams in consultation sessions to identify the specific projects between industry and academic collaborators that could be developed further or showcased immediately. CUTRIC’s commitment to a national perspective ensures that collaborations and partnerships are not confined to provincial boundaries but instead drive new research and innovation nationwide.

PPU Committees

The Power Providers & Utilities Transit Decarbonization Committee for Transit Electrification is trying to establish a systematic national dialogue reviewing and assessing the opportunities, challenges and solutions associated with the growing role of utilities across Canada with regard to the electrification of transportation, including electric vehicle supply equipment for both high-powered and low-powered electric transit systems, as well as hydrogen fuel cell electric transit systems.

The working group will learn about the latest technology innovations related to electric bus and fuel cell electric bus technologies, including integrated energy storage systems, while exploring utility business models that may work within certain jurisdictions or under specific conditions to enable utility business development in this space.

The working group will produce a set of recommendations that achieve unanimity of support by designated voting representatives of CUTRIC member utility organizations, and allied organizations working within the electricity marketplace.
