Decarbonizing the west: Alberta Municipality Constellation Project

CUTRIC is working with FortisAlberta on an Alberta Municipality Constellation project.

With the inevitable rollout of electric fleets across the country by 2040, there is no doubt that the future energy demand will impact current grid infrastructure and stability.

This project will provide a comprehensive study that informs the procurement and deployment of zero emission buses and the future energy demands across nine transit agencies in Alberta.

This $550 092 project is a combined investment from Infrastructure Canada's Zero Emission Transit Fund, Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and FortisAlberta.

Grand River Transit launches first battery electric bus

This month, our team attended Grand River Transit's eBus launch in Waterloo.

Grand River Transit is getting eleven, fully electric, 40-foot buses – and new charging units – after a combined investment of more than $15.1 million in two projects from the federal and provincial governments, along with the Regional Municipality of Waterloo.

Six chargers have been installed at the Northfield maintenance facility; buses can be fully charged in about four hours, the region says. The 11 new electric buses cost a total of about $15.1 million, offset by federal and provincial funding of more than $11 million, as MPs and MPPs reaffirmed their governments' continued funding for a green economy.
